Importance of play
We understand the importance of play in children’s learning and development during their time at Brightwell Pre-school.
We are committed to providing a fun and nurturing environment which encourages both independent and group play.
Our daily activities, whilst being structured around the National Curriculum, are centred around having fun so that the children feel happy and safe.
EYFS Curriculum
Brightwell Pre-school is regulated by Ofsted, which means that we follow the National Curriculum for under 5s, known as the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage). The EYFS framework supports an integrated approach to early learning and care. We adhere to a set of common principles and commitments to deliver quality early education and childcare experiences to all children.
There are seven areas of learning and development set out by the EYFS:
- Communication and language
- Physical development
- Personal, social and emotional development
- Literacy
- Mathematics
- Understanding the world
- Expressive arts and design
Our indoor and outdoor play is structured by this framework whilst also tailoring the activities to the needs of each individual child.
